It’s become something of a New Year’s tradition for Netflix to release a new Harlan Coben show in January.
This year’s exciting story was Run Away, a tantalising thriller starring James Nesbitt and Ruth Jones.
The show follows Simon Greene, a father who’s desperately searching for his missing daughter, Paige.
As he hunts for her, however, he finds himself under police investigation when he becomes embroiled in a deeper conspiracy involving a cult.
Run Away has been a runaway (ha!) hit with critics, boasting an impressive 81% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Christopher Stevens from the Daily Mail described the show as a ‘soap packed full of steroids’.
Meanwhile, The Upcoming wrote, ‘It’s all par for the course for a Coben thriller, but it’s done exceedingly well’.
Still, as good as Run Away may be, there’s one big problem. It’s only eight episodes long, which means it doesn’t make for a great binge watch.
So what’s a TV fanatic to do?
Well, you could watch the other Harlan Coben adaptations on Netflix, but you’re going to run into the same problem pretty quickly.
If only there were a way to unlock the complete library of thrillers on Netflix instead of the ones the algorithm recommends to you.
Oh wait. There is! Thanks to a secret code.
If you go to http://www.netflix.com (sorry, it doesn’t work on the apps) and change the URL to ‘https://netflix.com/browse/genre/4366’, then you’ll be taken to the ‘Mystery Series’, where you can see every TV thriller currently available in the streaming service’s library.
Four shows we found using the secret code (4366)
- Blood (2018): Starring Carolina Main and Adrian Dunbar, this tense thriller about a daughter who suspects her father killed her mother has an impressive 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
- Dark (2017): While it may skew more supernatural than shows like Run Away, this German series about the hunt for the truth in the aftermath of a child’s disappearance is every bit as gripping as Harlan’s stories.
- The Chestnut Man (2021): Boasting an impressive 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, this Danish crime series about a twisted serial killer will have you on the edge of your seat.
- Broadchurch (2013): You don’t need me to tell you why Broadchurch is good.
So what are these codes? Well, basically, these codes are numerical identifiers created by Netflix to specify the many different genres of TV and movies.
By using the codes, you can bypass the regular algorithm and find highly specific genre categories.
So while adding ‘4366’ to the end of the URL will bring up all TV thrillers, you can dig up some weird and wonderful sub-categories.
