Musannah – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Supreme Commander, paid a visit on Wednesday to the Musannah Air Base of Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO).
Upon arrival of the Royal motorcade, His Majesty was received by Air Vice-Marshal Khamis bin Hammad al Ghafri, Commander of RAFO, along with the Commander of Musannah Air Base and a number of senior wing and squadron commanders.
During the visit, His Majesty listened to a detailed briefing on RAFO, highlighting its advanced military capabilities, modern aerial assets and its vital national role in safeguarding the sultanate. His Majesty was also briefed on the base’s operational readiness and the continuous efforts to enhance efficiency and performance.
His Majesty toured several facilities at Musannah Air Base, where he inspected models of specialised aerial systems operated by RAFO. The tour included an exhibition showcasing the latest military equipment and advanced machinery, as well as strategic plans aimed at training and qualifying national cadres in the maintenance and sustainability of aerial military systems.
At the conclusion of the visit, a commemorative photograph was taken of His Majesty the Supreme Commander with the personnel of Musannah Air Base.
The Royal visit reflects His Majesty’s appreciation for RAFO and its dedicated personnel. It coincided with the 67th anniversary of RAFO’s establishment and underscores the ongoing modernisation witnessed during the Renewed Renaissance, which has transformed the force into a modern and integrated military arm.
In addition to protecting the sultanate’s airspace, RAFO plays a key role in providing logistical support to other military units, security services and civilian institutions. The visit highlighted the qualitative and quantitative achievements of RAFO, reflecting the comprehensive development taking place across the nation.
