Tonight is the night… The Traitors is finally back on our screens!
After what has felt like a lifetime (since last week), viewers will today learn who the Secret Traitor is, after some outlandish and quite frankly bonkers fan theories were thrown about.
The BBC juggernaut, hosted by Claudia Winkelman, made a stunning return on New Year’s Day and has already provided us with one of the most heated roundtables ever.
Fans of the BBC reality series have also claimed that they have spotted a fatal error that could ‘blow the game wide open’.
This came after eagle-eyed observers thought they uncovered a vital clue about a murdered Faithful.
But, after asking our readers who they thought this year’s Secret Traitor is, Metro has taken a deeper look into the potential identity of the mystery player.
Who do Metro readers think is the Secret Traitor?

One of the most popular guesses for who could be the Secret Traitors is psychologist Ellie.
Fans are already convinced that she and Ross already knew each other, after they were seen in a LinkedIn post together.
There, Ross has publicly commented on several of Ellie’s work updates with supportive messages that would imply he knows her.
But, writing on Facebook, Karen Forgham and Josh Murphy are convinced that she ‘gave away’ being a Secret Traitor when she was being interviewed recently.
Linda Evans also theorised: ‘I wonder if it was part of her secret mission as The Secret Traitor, to mention it.’
Fiona
Another player in the BBC murder mystery show who seems suspicious to fans is Fiona.
The 62-year-old local government officer from Swansea has certainly won over viewers with her chatty personality.
But Steve Etheridge has claimed that she ‘mentioned two traitors names out the blue’ and she is ‘in there without a care in the world’.
What do the odds say?
- Fiona 2/1 (33%)
- Amanda 4/1 (20%)
- Jessie 5/1 (17%)
- Harriet 6/1 (14%)
- Sam 8/1 (11%)
- Ellie 10/1 (9%)
Adding further reasons, Steve claimed that ‘while everyone but the traitors are panicking, she looks like she is on holiday rather than hoping not to be murdered or banished.’
Echoing Steve’s reservations, Frances Mayes claimed that when talking to the camera ‘she seemed to speak in riddles [and was] very confident and not concerned about getting a shield in the slightest.’
Harriet
Before her time on The Traitors, Harriet was a criminal barrister and remains a successful crime novelist.
In the last jaw-dropping episode, she managed to almost single-handedly lead a charge against Hugo at the roundtable, putting together a compelling case that saw him banished.
But, for many Metro readers, the skill with which she was able to detect Hugo has drawn some suspicion.

Writing on Facebook, Ben Wood said: ‘Harriet, she was absolutely adamant Hugo was a traitor. I think she may have played her trump card far too soon.’
Meanwhile, Antony Sheppard has theorised that Harriet’s picture ‘was on the wall with the other traitors on Saturdays aftershow program’.
Ross
For those who seem convinced that Ellie and Ross know each other outside of the game, there is a similar theory that the 37-year-old personal trainer from London could be a Secret Traitor.
So far, Ross has appeared to have been ‘set up’ several times by the Traitors, with nearly every murder seemingly pointing back at him.
Despite his protestations that he is being framed in the show, Metro readers on Facebook are claiming that he could be the mystery player in the red cloak.
Pat Plant’s theory that the Secret Traitor ‘has to be someone tall’ would also point to the ultra-fit personal trainer.
