Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) is currently holding a lot of power in his hands in Emmerdale. What a nightmare.
On Monday, Joe was asked by Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) to drive him as he needed to find Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), and couldn’t do it himself as he was in a bad way.
Aaron planned to force John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) to drive to the police station and hand himself in. Things took a terrible turn though, as John let go of the wheel and told Aaron to take control, wanting to show him what it feels like to have someone’s life in his hands.
This led to Aaron and John crashing into a car that was being driven by the Swains from Coronation Street. It set the foundations for Corriedale, which changed lives from both neighbourhoods forever.
During the crossover episode, Joe was knocked out after feeling the force of the minibus explosion. Afterwards, he headed into the woods, and found Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) in a confrontation with John.
Vic killed her brother after stabbing him with a syringe. Just like Nate Robinson, John had a bad reaction to the drug and died. Vic wiped the syringe and placed it in John’s hand – and Joe recorded the entire thing.
As he continued to ponder over whether or not he saw Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) in hospital yesterday, Joe spent the start of today’s episode wondering how he could use the footage to his advantage.
Once he arrived at the Sugden household, Joe confirmed his plan.
He showed Vic and Robert the recording on his phone and said he could either tell the police, or they could give him their farm for free.
Last year, Kim Tate (Claire King) told Joe about her plan to buy the land that surrounds Home Farm. He was tasked with getting Annie Sugden’s land and Butlers, but he didn’t do a very good job.
Still keen to impress Kim and rebuild the trust in the relationship, Joe knew he could get the Sugden farmland by using the footage against the siblings.

Robert and Vic believed they had no choice but to agree, so Joe headed off feeling quite smug.
His next task was to go to Celia Daniels’ (Jaye Griffiths) farm and get her rent money. Joe couldn’t find Celia because she’s dead, but found something else instead.
Joe snooped through a drawer and discovered an envelope that had passports inside, with one of them belonging to trafficked woman Anya.
Another idea forming, Joe met Robert at Home Farm later in the day and revealed what he’d like to do for him.
Joe told Robert that Celia had been making people work as slaves on the farm, and wants him to plant the passports and other evidence at Moira Dingle’s (Natalie J Robb) house.
Robert refused, but it wasn’t a request.
We know that Moira will find herself being questioned over human trafficking in upcoming episodes – but is that because the police have found the evidence Robert planted?
Will Joe use the same tactic with Moira as he did with the Sugdens, and tell her that he’ll keep quiet about her apparent crimes in exchange for the farm?
