The Games of Thrones ending divided fans, and seemingly the cast too.

As the series, based on the George RR Martin books, came to an end in 2019, some viewers were up in arms about an ending they thought was so awful that it destroyed the show’s legacy.

Comparisons have been drawn recently between that, and the Stranger Things finale, with a number of fans feeling like they were experiencing déjà vu as they were disappointed by another highly anticipated finish.

However, Sophie Turner, who played Sansa Stark, has said she was ‘very happy’ with how her characters’ story ended in the final season.

Talking to The Direct about whether she’d be interested in returning as her character to one of the sequel projects that, according to Collider, Martin has said he’s working on, Turner said jokingly: ‘Show me the money’, before adding: ‘I don’t know, I think it would be hard but also amazing to come back to it.’

The Steal actor went on: ‘But I feel that I was very happy with the way Sansa ended her story in Game of Thrones, and no one else was really happy with their ending.

‘I feel like I got a good one, and so I don’t know if I could revisit it.’

Sansa Stark finished season eight as Queen of the North after it was re-established as an independent kingdom.

Whereas other characters’ plot lines, like Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), came to sudden endings that some felt were rushed.

There were viewers so upset with the way it wrapped up that a petition was created to ‘remake Game of Thrones season 8 with competent writers’ which received 1.8m signatures.

While we don’t have many details for the ‘sequels’ that Martin has indicated are in the works, we already know about a number of prequel spin-off shows.

House of the Dragon premiered in 2022 and has been confirmed to run until season four, plus

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms drops later this month. The latter is based on Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas.

Game of Thrones is available to watch on NOW, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube.
