EastEnders’ George Knight (Colin Salmon) probably wishes he could forget the vast majority of last year, though a new baby and a new venture could ensure that 2026 is a better one.
The first half of 2025 started out with the reveal of ex-wife Cindy Beale’s (Michelle Collins) affair with Junior Knight (Micah Balfour), the deadly attack that almost finished her off and the breakdown of his marriage to Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe), the first half of 2025 was bleak.
Though things picked up when he began seeing the fearsome Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington), they went south again after brother Kojo Asare (Dayo Koleosho) was cuckoo’d by Tobias ‘Okie’ Okyere (Aayan Ibikunle Shoderu) as part of Ravi Gulati’s (Aaron Thiara) fledgling drug enterprise.
He knew something was wrong immediately when his brother went ‘on holiday’, and threw everything into tracking Kojo down. When Kojo finally escaped Okie, he made it his mission to protect his brother.
Despite their relationship having previously gone sour due to the drug operation that ensnared both Kojo and Nicola’s son, Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway), they were brought back into each others orbit when Nicola discovered that she’d fallen pregnant.
Nicola initially confided her secret only to Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton), George was floored when he discovered he was going to be a dad again, initially disbelieving Nicola until daughter Gina (Francesca Henry) put him straight and ordered him to make things right with Nicola..
When Nicola suffered a scare after Harry’s overdose, the two attended a scan together and, upon hearing their babies heartbeat for the first time, decided that they wanted to keep the baby and things seemed to turn around for George.
In the weeks since, though, Nicola has ploughed all of her efforts into plotting revenge against Ravi on behalf of her son, Harry, who’s determined that his recovery and sobriety rest entirely on his former tormentor paying for everything he’s inflicted on their family.
This week sees Nicola enact her plan successfully, and she spikes Ravi’s drink, insistent that he feel exactly what Harry felt when Okie was feeding him drugs while in captivity.
While their plan has deadly consequences for Ravi, next week, George arrives with much more positive news, he’s going to purchase Walford East.
Looking forward to a new year with a brand new business and a baby on the way, can George enjoy a more positive 2026? Or will Nicola’s blood feud with Ravi leave him reminiscing on the halcyon days of 2025?
