Oman, Ethiopia begin political consultation to expand trade and investment

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Oman and Ethiopia held their inaugural session of political consultations in Addis Ababa on Tuesday. This landmark meeting followed the formal signing of a MoU between the two nations specifically regarding political cooperation and dialogue.

The Omani delegation was led by H E Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthy, Undersecretary for Diplomatic Affairs in the Foreign Ministry. Representing Ethiopia was Hadera Abera, State Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political and Economic Affairs of Ethiopia.

The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations across a variety of strategic sectors. Key areas of focus included the expansion of trade exchange, the regulation of labour, and the augmentation of maritime and air transport links. Furthermore, both parties explored potential investment opportunities in agriculture and financial services. The session also served as a platform to address pressing regional and international issues, with both delegations reaffirming their commitment to peaceful resolutions and diplomatic cooperation.
