Following the explosive return of the second season of The Night Manager, the anticipation for who will be the next James Bond is starting to heat up.
Yesterday, it was revealed that Callum Turner has reportedly been telling his friends that he is set to play the new 007.
The Eternity actor, 35, is one of many names who are said to be in the running to play the new Bond, alongside the likes of Aaron Taylor-Johnson and James Norton.
But, with Tom Hiddleston’s return as Jonathan Pine in the BBC series after 10 years, fans now seem to be convinced more than ever that he is the man for the job.
Taking to social media @TheOtherBigO argued: ‘I maintain that if Tom Hiddleston ever wanted to play James Bond, this series is his audition tape.’
@KathMrsC similarly declared that ‘he really should be the next James Bond’, adding that: ‘I don’t care if they want somebody under 30 for the role, it’s time and he deserves it.’
Meanwhile, @theotherThato claimed that Tom ‘may have just given his best audition for James Bond – unknowingly’.
This recent attention is certainly not the first time that he has been linked with the iconic role.
Following the release of the first series of The Night Manager, fans also declared that he would be the perfect candidate to take over from Daniel Craig.
What does Metro think of The Night Manager season 2?
Our TV Editor Sabrina Barr shared her thoughts on the series…
The series was perfectly brilliant as a standalone, having been based on the 1993 novel by the acclaimed espionage author John le Carré. If those six episodes were all we were ever going to get from a TV show about Jonathan Pine, then that would have been ok (even if it would have been a bitter pill to swallow).
But, thank goodness the creators of the series did decide to come back, because there is so much more of Pine’s story and his massive potential as a sleuthing secret agent to delve into in season two. The phrase ‘better late than never’ has never felt more apt.

Back in 2015, he did admit that he would ‘enjoy’ to play Bond in an ‘entirely hypothetical situation’.
But, a year later he distanced himself from the role after he was reportedly deemed ‘too smug’ to play him.
Discussing the latest installment of The Night Manager, however, Tom claimed that the production team ‘had to be braver and deeper’.
Speaking to Metro at the red carpet premiere of the series in London, the 44-year-old said: ‘I know we’ve been braver. I sort of had it tattooed onto the inside of my brain that we had to be harder, better, faster, stronger, to steal from Daft Punk.
‘We had to be braver and deeper, and had to try to be both more courageous and more compelling and also more intense and more vulnerable, to try and excavate the centre of who Jonathan Pine is at a deeper level.’
