This monkey means business… but who are they? (Picture: ITV)

This year’s series of The Masked Singer is possibly the most bananas so far and that’s partly thanks to Monkey Business.

Taking to the stage in the second episode of the ITV show’s double-dose return, this monkey was on a mission.

Comfortably avoiding the face off, this diva let us know they were a jet-setting icon with plenty of references to money and investments.

Monkey Business’ opening performance saw them belt out a rendition of Maneater by Daryl Hall & John Oates, complete with banana phones.

So far they’ve stumped the panel but one thing is clear, they think this primate has comedy chops.

Here’s all the clues so far to who is behind this mask.

Comedy queen or Apprentice star? (Picture: ITV)

What clues are there for Monkey Business’ identity?

This monkey means business and they’ve got plenty of hints for us to dive into … but could some be a red herring?

  • Okay, it’s clear Monkey Business is a jet setter with scenes on planes and even a little travel sickness bag
  • Another big hint was a first aid kit, could they have been trained as or played a medical professional?
  • It’s hard to mistake the Apprentice theme music and with all the high stakes business hints, is this someone who has appeared on the show?
  • One sneaky shot showed a bottle labeled as belladonna, which Davina pointed out is a type of posion
  • Then there was a quick hint of rollerblades, truly no idea on that one but we’re sure it’s important

Who could Monkey Business on The Masked Singer be?

Katherine Parkinson

After complaining that Monkey Business was ‘confusing’ the panel,Jonathan Ross may have knocked it out of the park with this guess.

He suggested IT Crowd star Katherine Parkinson could be behind the mask, mirroring her iconic red hair with the costume. Plus we can see Jen Barber rocking that suit.

The first VT had hints of technology, which could be a nod to the 00s sitcom, meanwhile the medicine links to her early appearances on Casualty.

Keeping with the 80s theme, Katherine appears in Disney Plus’ Rivals, set in the shoulder pad-obsessed era.

Karren Brady

That Apprentice theme was hard to miss so it’s not a huge leap to suggest Monkey Business has worked with Lord Alan Sugar… or maybe it is him. Everyone go home we’ve solved it.

As for the serious suggestions, Lord Alan’s right hand woman Karren Brady was flagged by Mo Gilligan.

The Baronness Brady has starred on The Apprentice for many years, first appearing as celebrity contestant on Comic Relief Does The Apprentice in 2007.

Could Monkey Business be this business icon?

Sara Davies

In the same vein as Baronness Brady, Davina was thinking business woman and landed on Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies.

She’s no stranger to celebrity guest spots as she’s also taken part in Strictly Come Dancing, could that have prepared her dancing feet for this?

Fans of the show on X also put forward Sara as a potential for Monkey Business, although other clues like the first aid kit are a little forgotten here.

Other guesses

Build: Martine McCutcheon
Could Martine McCutcheon be ‘double dipping’? (Picture: Mike Marsland/Mike Marsland/WireImage)

The panellists offered up two ‘double-dipping’ guesses on the first show, although it wouldn’t be the first time a contestant has returned.

Maya Jama went down the comedy route and suggested Katherine Ryan, who previously appeared in 2023 as Pigeon.

Guest judge Matt Lucas revealed his guess as Martine McCutcheon, saying he recognised the voice after seeing singing on stage.

The EastEnders legend had a chart hit, Perfect Moment, in the 2000s and saw some success with her debut album … but she was The Swan in season two.

Could this monkey have unfinished business?

The Masked Singer continues Saturday at 7pm on ITV1.
