The Masked Singer is back with a new line-up of incognito celebs singing their way to the coveted trophy.

The ITV reality series is hosted by Joel Dommett and judged by an all-star panel comprised of Jonathan RossDavina McCallMo Gilligan and Maya Jama.

Promising a ‘first’ in Masked Singer history and ‘more unmaskings than ever’, the new season introduces 12 famous faces dressed up in bonkers outfits for the judges and the audience to guess.

This year’s contestants include: Moth, Can of Worms, Red Panda, Conkers, Arctic Fox, Toastie, Monkey Business, Sloth, Garogyle, Disc Jockey and Teabag.

Of course, despite their elaborate disguises, there are different tells to piece together who might be lurking underneath the costumes.

Which celebrity is our enigmatic Sloth? (Picture: ITV)
  • Sloth made their debut performance on the show with the song Break My Stride from Matthew Wilder, with a very energetic routine to match, indicating it was a young, sprightly person.
  • The outfit resembles workout gear, including fluorescent sweatbands, a mesh top and a pink leotard, screaming sporty personality.
  • In the clue package, it opens up to an alarm clock ringing.
  • We see Sloth recording a workout video on a camcorder, indicating it could be an influencer of some sort, or at least someone who documents their exercise to the masses.
  • ‘Good morning workout warriors’
  • ‘Now I’m bringing fitness, fashion and fierceness to the competition. I know how to represent in the gym and on the world stage.’
  • We also see the Sloth in the jungle, which has the judges convinced that this is a celebrity who has featured on I’m A Celebrity.
  • There was also a shot of some snooker cues.
  • And a pair of handcuffs in a puddle of water

  • It could be a radio DJ due to the cadence of Sloth’s voice and the fact that there were also several references to music, as he held aloft a stereo.
  • On the stage after their performance, Sloth kept the energy by encouraging Joel to do some press-ups on stage.

Who could Sloth on The Masked Singer be?

There are currently several names floating around as the possible famous face posing as nature’s sleepiest animal.

Joe Wicks

For those convinced by the fitness influencer aspect of Sloth’s intro video and performance, Body Coach Joe Wicks is a strong frontrunner, which was also suggested by panellist Maya Jama.

Especially after Sloth made Joel do a push-up on stage, which Jonathan Ross called ‘very Joe Wicks.’

The nation’s PE teacher is known for his high-intensity workouts and has made a name for himself for leading accessible classes for the masses on social media.

Sam Thompson

Maya Jama also posed TV personality Sam Thompson, who said he was ‘constantly moving’ when they worked together, much like Sloth on stage.

The Made in Chelsea star and radio host also famously won I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here in 2023, which would fit into the jungle theme of the clues.

Several people online have also agreed that Sloth gives off a distinctive Sam Thompson energy.

Alexander Armstrong

Could it be a show first with the Pointless host (Picture: Max Cisotti/Dave Benett/WireImage)

Davina McCall posed her own theory that Alexander Armstrong, who has also been on the show, could be back for a second go-around after spotting the handcuffs, which reminded her of a ‘stretch of time in prison’ and, thus, the toy Stretch Armstrong.

Interestingly, the One Show host mentioned there is ‘always a first time’ for everything, and ITV did tease this season would be one of ‘firsts’.

The last time Alexander Armstrong was on the show, he was Chicken Caesar and eliminated in episode two.

Chris Moyles

Leaning into the radio host theory, Jonathan Ross pointed out the alarm clock as a sign that it could be someone who hosts either breakfast TV or a breakfast radio show.

Therefore, he offered up DJ Chris Moyles.

What’s more, the star appeared on I’m A Celebrity in the 2022 season and, as Jonathan pointed out, he ‘got really fit as a result of going in there’ so that could lean into the sporty aesthetic.

Other possible choices include snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan, after Anne-Marie spotted the snooker cues in the clue package, also justifying that he likes ‘running’.

Elsewhere, in the sporty vein, some fans online believe it could be Mo Farah who has also, coincidentally, starred in I’m A Celebrity and is said to be returning for the All Stars version.

Meanwhile, all the music references, The Wanted star Jay McGuiness has also been posed, with Sloth joking ‘I’ve always wanted to be in a boy band, but am I Jay McGuiness?’ about the Strictly star.

The Masked Singer 2026 continues on ITV1 and ITVX.
