As the huge Corriedale episode edges closer, more and more details emerge of how that terrifying crash ends up coming to be. Could Charity Dingle’s (Emma Atkins) big secret dropping be instrumental in the carnage?
Emmerdale’s Charity has been carrying the secret that the baby in her belly is not the implanted embryo that it should have been, but instead was the product of a bad decision after a bottle of wine – with Ross Barton (Mike Parr).
The entire family has been in the dark about Charity’s subterfuge…until now.
Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) and new hubby Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) are still blissfully unaware and are off on their honeymoon, just as Mack finds out the whole sordid truth. Charity just doesn’t know it yet.
As the truth is laid bare for Mack, he is inwardly apoplectic at the sheer scale of her betrayal. Not only has she lied to him, but she plans to lie to Sarah for the rest of her life.
As he silently struggles to keep a grasp on reality, he convinces Charity to get in the car. At first, she doesn’t realise the dangerous situation she has willingly stepped into, but as the journey continues the penny starts to drop that Mack knows.
It becomes blatantly obvious when Mack puts her on the spot by asking if the baby is in fact his.
Now this is an interesting twist as it suggests he doesn’t yet know about Ross, but either way, Charity is forced to admit that the baby might not be Sarah’s.
The confirmation sends Mack into a spiral, especially that Charity is so cold-hearted she would let her granddaughter raise someone else’s baby to protect herself.
He demands they go straight to the airport and tell Sarah before she gets on her flight. Charity is unsurprisingly not keen on the idea and tries to get him to turn around, but he is fixated.
His foot presses harder on the accelerator, and Charity realises the speed they’re going is highly dangerous. Things get worse when Mack thinks he spots Jacob and Sarah’s car, and, hellbent on catching them, he makes a move that endangers everyone’s lives.
In the CorrieDale crossover, Mack manages to catch up with the car; Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) as passenger with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) at the wheel playing taxi. Mack maniacally begins flashing them, blinding Cain and forcing him to stamp on the breaks. With this sudden action, Mack and Charity’s car careens off the road and smashes through a fence. Is this the start of the huge pile up?

Do Charity’s lies end in death for her and her baby? While the trailers show her comforting a distressed Shona Platt (Julia Goulding), we know there is also set to be a big twist and multiple deaths, and this could just be it.
Equally, actor Lawrence Robb may have given Metro a bit of a juicy titbit.
He told editor Duncan that he did not get to act with any Corrie characters during the making of these history-making scenes. Does that mean his character is killed off before he has chance to interact with them? Does Charity’s secret die with him?
Or could it be that their car crash scene is simply elsewhere?
