The Masked Singer is back – and we’ve had our first reveals of the series!

Tonight, the nation’s favourite guessing game returned to ITV with Joel Dommett as host for its seventh series.

Panellists Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Maya Jama, and Mo Gilligan were on hand to do their best detective work as they attempted to suss out the identities of each character.

But for two contestants, the game is already up, as they became the first stars to take off their masks – and you won’t believe who was underneath.

First up, none other than Anne-Marie was unveiled as Goldfish, having fronted the show’s first-ever house band, No Trout.

The panel gasped and cheered as the costume was lifted and the pop star was unveiled, later performing her hugely popular single 2002, this time, unmasked.

Only Love Island host Maya was able to correctly identify Anne-Marie, 34, due to a clue referencing her martial arts background.

One of the band members wore black belts across their body, which was a nod to the Rockabye hitmaker being a black belt and former world champion in Shotokan karate.

Later on in tonight’s bumper launch show came another unmasking after all the characters had performed, with the studio audience voting for who they wanted to save.

Unfortunately for Disc Jockey, they failed to get the crowd on side, leading to their elimination – and underneath it was The One Show’s Alex Jones!

It’s safe to say the whole panel was aghast, with even Welsh broadcaster Alex – who sang Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan – admitting: ‘To be honest, I wouldn’t have guessed me!’

Her clues were certainly ambiguous, as the panel predicted she could either have been a DJ – like Radio 1’s Annie Mac – or a sports star, such as Lioness Jill Scott.

In her VT, Alex said she had ‘faced trials in my life’ and was keen to ‘hit the ground running’, the ‘trials’ being in reference to Comic Relief.

She also included a photo of Jonathan himself in a reference to having previously hosted a show called Jonathan, long before her One Show tenure.

Additionally, she said it’s ‘not just wins I’m interested in making’, a nod to her TV series Alex Jones: Making Babies.

Other hints included declaring herself a ‘good sport’ and stating that she has ‘represented my country’ before, suggesting she could’ve been a Eurovision hopeful.

Taking to X after her big reveal, viewers were impressed by her vocal abilities, with @Rosie12_1994 writing: ‘alex Jones is actually a decent singer don’t think she should have been voted out tbf’.

‘I was not expecting Disc Jockey to be Alex Jones!!’, tweeted @TheRealZoeMBE.

The panel are back for more sleuthing this series, which promises more unmaskings than ever before (Picture: ITV)

‘Alex Jones wasn’t even in my list of possible guesses!’, echoed @VickyCosgrove89.

Speaking in her post-unmasking Q&A, the presenter – who is currently a favourite to host Strictly this year – said taking part in The Masked Singer was a ‘career highlight’.

‘This is just pure joy, fun and just completely out of my comfort zone, but something I will remember forever.’

The Masked Singer UK returns tomorrow night for its third and fourth reveals in a jam-packed weekend, with this season promising more unmaskings than before.

Following performances from Can of Worms, Gargoyle, Moth, and Sloth tonight, tomorrow will see Arctic Fox, Conkers, Monkey Business, Teabag, Toastie, and Yak take centre stage.

They’ll all be hoping to follow in the footsteps of previous winners and make it all the way to the end by deceiving the panel and studio audience.

Red Panda’s performance will be shown in the coming weeks (Picture: ITV)

Last year’s season was won by West End performer Samantha Barks, who took the crown from 2024 champ Danny Jones. Past winners before them were Charlie Simpson (2023), Natalie Imbruglia (2022), Joss Stone (2021), and, of course, the original victor, Nicola Roberts as Queen Bee in 2020.

Viewers will have to wait a little longer to see Red Panda perform, though, as their presence was removed from the launch show just hours before it hit screens.

In a turbulent start to the series, ITV issued a statement, telling Metro: ‘In light of the tragic events in Switzerland, we took the decision to remove Red Panda’s performance on The Masked Singer owing to potential insensitivities within the theme and lyrics of the song.

‘Viewers will get to see Red Panda perform in the coming weeks.’

Red Panda’s song choice is currently unknown, but their costume does feature a firefighter’s uniform, which is covered in burn marks.

At least 40 people were killed, and 119 others were injured – many seriously – after a fire broke out at a Swiss ski resort during a New Year’s Eve party.

The blaze broke out at around 1:30am at the Le Constellation bar, which is popular with tourists. An investigation is currently underway.

The Masked Singer 2026 continues on ITV1 and ITVX.
