Ruben Amorim has revealed Manchester United will not be signing players during the January transfer window despite missing out on Antoine Semenyo.
United initially expressed interest in the Bournemouth star last summer, holding talks over a move before the forward signed a new contract in July.
That deal included a release clause that became active this month, however, with a host of Premier League sides fighting for his signature. United were again among them, prepared to pay a set fee of £65million to bring him to Old Trafford.
Semenyo however communicated his desire to join Manchester City with United reluctant to break their new wage structure. The Ghana international is now expected to seal a move to the Etihad.
United parted with over £200million in the summer transfer window in bringing Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens to the club.

But Amorim has given his strongest suggestion yet that will be the end of the spending until the summer.
‘The transfer window is not going to change,’ Amorim said ahead of United’s trip to Leeds United.
‘We have no conversations in this moment to have any change in the squad,” the United head coach said. ‘There is a process, there is an idea. That is going to continue.
‘We are near the places of the Champions League but we are near also eight teams behind us, so let’s focus on the next game, just that.’
United have made revamping their midfield a top priority this summer with Casemiro entering the final months of his contract and renewed uncertainty over Bruno Fernandes’ future.
Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba are among their top targets with neither a realistic target for the January window.
Kobbie Mainoo meanwhile had been seeking a January loan move to Napoli with but an injury to Fernandes means United are now very unlikely to green light any exit.
Joshua Zirkzee also been strongly linked with a move to Italy with Roma keen on his services. But with Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo away on Africa Cup of Nations duty, any move appears unlikely until late on in the window.
