Zohran Mamdani was officially sworn in on Thursday as mayor of New York City. He is the city’s first Muslim mayor and took the oath with his hand on two Qurans. The 34-year-old Democratic socialist vowed to govern “expansively and audaciously” and campaigned on an agenda aimed at lowering costs for New Yorkers.
