Detty December Fest 2025 wrapped up in spectacular fashion in Lagos, capping a month-long celebration of music and culture that further cemented its status as one of Africa’s defining end-of-year festivals.
Held at Ilubirin from December 7 to 29, the festival unfolded across four major highlight days and drew hundreds of fans to Lagos for what organisers describe as “Africa’s real summer.”
The closing stretch featured high-energy performances from international headliners Busta Rhymes and Gunna, alongside some of Africa’s biggest stars including Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Shenseea, Phyno, Fave, Juma Jux, Qing Madi and Diamond Platnumz.
The festival opened on December 7 with a dramatic spectacle featuring aerial ballerinas, setting a theatrical tone for the weeks that followed. The grand opening night showcased performances by Nigerian music heavyweights Wande Coal, Young Jonn, Ice Prince, Darey, Fola, Shoday and Jerry Shaffer.
Detty December Fest also received institutional backing, partnering with the Federal Ministry of Art and Culture. The Minister, Hannatu Musa Musawa, hailed the festival as a significant contributor to Nigeria’s cultural ecosystem, citing its role in strengthening the country’s global creative profile and boosting holiday tourism.
Reflecting on the success of the 2025 edition, Deola Art Alade, Founder and Group CEO of Livespot360, said the response from Lagos audiences underscored the growing demand for large-scale live experiences in December.
“This year showed that the appetite for Detty December Fest is real. Ilubirin proved Lagos is ready for a world-class December experience, and this is only the beginning,” she said.
Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer Darey Art Alade added that the festival was designed to reflect the spirit of Lagos itself. “We set out to create a festival that feels true to Lagos — fresh and exciting. The response from the artists and fans tells us we got it right,” he said.
With its blend of global stars, African talent and immersive production, Detty December Fest 2025 set a new benchmark for live entertainment in Lagos, reinforcing Detty December as a major driver of culture, tourism and economic activity in the city each year.
