The Minister of Works and former Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Nweze Umahi, has declared that the second-term ambition of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru is sacrosanct and non-negotiable.
Umahi gave the assurance during a Christmas courtesy visit by members of the Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum to his country home in Umunaga, Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
He expressed deep appreciation to the Izzi people for their consistent show of respect and love, pledging to sustain the cordial relationship between himself and the clan, noting the strong blood ties, having married from Izzi land.
The former governor also used the occasion to solicit unwavering support for Governor Nwifuru and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that their leadership holds great promise for the nation. He described the second-term agenda of both Governor Nwifuru and President Tinubu as sacrosanct, adding that President Tinubu has made significant strides in the development of Ebonyi State and the South-East region.
Engr. Umahi further stated that agitations for self-actualisation in Nigeria were unnecessary, noting that the current administration is executing numerous life-impacting projects that benefit the Igbo people and other regions of the country.
The Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum said the visit was to appreciate the former governor for the enduring legacies he left behind during his tenure as governor of Ebonyi State.
Speaking on behalf of the forum, the National President, Comrade Chibueze Elom, alongside the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Comrade Ben Nwovu, commended Engr. Umahi for his uncommon love and support for the Izzi people, particularly during the critical period when the agitation for equity in zoning the governorship position of the state was at its peak.
The youth leaders acknowledged that through hard work, vision and passion for development, Engr. Umahi significantly transformed Ebonyi State, elevating it to global recognition as one of the fastest-developing states in the South-East and Nigeria at large.
They assured the former governor of their continued loyalty and alignment, while appealing to him to remember members of the Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum in his ministerial projects, contracts and empowerment initiatives.
