Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of seven journalists who lost their lives in a fatal road accident in Gombe South.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Atiku described the deceased as dedicated media professionals who met their untimely deaths while returning from the wedding ceremony of a colleague.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of seven journalists in a fatal road accident in Gombe South,” he said. “These were dedicated professionals who met their untimely end while returning from the wedding ceremony of a colleague.”
The former vice president extended his heartfelt condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the deceased, as well as the entire media community.
“My heartfelt condolences go to their families, friends, and the entire media community, especially the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE),” he said.
Atiku prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and for strength and comfort for those they left behind during what he described as a painful and difficult time.
“May their souls rest in peace, and may those they left behind find strength and comfort during this painful time,” he added.
