Ever since Quality Street released a 2025 mystery flavour back in September, chocolate lovers have been racking their brains to work out what it is.
Now, the secret has finally been revealed — and as it turns out, one of the most popular guesses was bang on the money.
On Instagram, the brand shared a photo of the yellow-wrappered treat, writing: ‘After months of speculation we can now reveal that the Mystery Sweet available in John Lewis is in fact… Pineapple!’
‘Each year we look forward to bringing a limited edition sweet into the mix to excite and delight Quality Street fans, but this year we took it a step further by keeping the flavour top secret,’ added Rachael Mundy, marketing manager for gifting and seasonal at Nestlé Confectionery UK & Ireland.
‘It’s been so fun hearing everyone’s guesses, and the team is relieved to finally be able to shout about the mysterious Pineapple Creme.’
If that was your answer, congratulations on having such a refined palate. But you’re not the only one.
Although theories ranged from lemon and lime to pistachio and even sweet potato, this tropical fruit was a clear frontrunner.
‘Literally everyone guessed it,’ commented @frostingswirls on Quality Street’s big reveal, while @louisep72 wrote: ‘Guessed it straight away and loved it. Went back to John Lewis and got a cracker full of them.’
The new sweet has been available exclusively at John Lewis and Waitrose stores as part of the confectionery firm’s festive pick and mix stations.
It joined the line-up of 11 options, including The Purple One, the Toffee Penny, Strawberry Delight and Orange Chocolate Crunch, as well as a returning favourite, Coffee Creme.
Shoppers were able to create their own bespoke tins using the mystery flavour — but just like when it features on pizza, pineapple proved controversial here too.
Instagram user @kt30tomlin was among the numerous fans who described it as ‘so yummy’, and many begged Nestlé for the limited edition variety to become a permanent fixture.
‘They were delicious,’ said @maria.hayden. ‘I think you should do a box of just that flavour for the summer – please.’
Others weren’t quite as complimentary though, including @girlwiththelonghairhome who called Pineapple Creme ‘vile’, and @mcgiveronnicola, who joined those commenting with vomit emojis but offered a succinct: ‘Disgusting.’
‘I’d ditch that one,’ added @knitsewsing. ‘It wasn’t great.’
