Tim Sherwood concedes simply ‘doesn’t see it’ with Leny Yoro and has questioned whether the young defender is cut out for the Premier League.

Much was expected of the Lille centre-half when he joined United the summer before last after he made the surprise decision to snub a move to Real Madrid.

Yoro’s United career began in difficult circumstances when he suffered an ankle injury during a pre-season friendly against Arsenal.

By the time he had recovered the manager who signed him, Erik ten Hag, was virtually out of the door and soon to be replaced by Ruben Amorim.

The 20-year-old has since been forced to adapt to a new system and although he has shown signs of promise he is yet to come close to justifying his £52million fee.

Yoro was again found wanting in last Saturday’s defeat against Aston Villa where he was partially culpable for the two Morgan Rogers goals that decided the contest.

Former Villa manager Sherwood has questioned why hit has taken so long for Yoro to get up to speed with the demands of English football and has also been concerned by the early struggles of Benjamin Sesko.

The Slovenia international has only just recovered from injury but looked off the pace at Villa Park and missed two excellent opportunities to score.

‘I don’t see it with Lenny Yoro at the moment, to be honest,’ Sherwood told Online casino UK

‘I always feel that players need time to settle into the Premier League, especially if you’re a young player who’s come from Europe, but I don’t see it with him.

‘Having said that, I also don’t see it with Matthijs de Ligt either – I don’t think he’s the answer for Manchester United.’

‘You could say the same about a lot of Manchester United’s players, and I think it demonstrates how big of a drop off there is between Arsenal and Manchester City’s squad and the rest of the league.

‘I’m also not sold by Benjamin Sesko. He hasn’t had a huge amount of chances, but I’d have at least expected to see something by now. I don’t see anything with him at the moment.

‘If he was an academy player at Manchester United coming through the ranks and he performed the way he has, you’d never seen him again and he’d never get another opportunity.

‘I hope for Man United’s sake that he improves, but at the moment, I don’t see it with him.’
