Arsenal star Jurrien Timber may soon be playing against his twin brother Quinten Timber who has emerged as a top target for a Premier League club.

After missing almost the entirety of his first season at the Emirates with an ACL injury, Jurrien has blossomed into one of the league’s best defenders.

The 24-year-old is excelling at right-back for Mikel Arteta’s side, even chipping in with three goals and three assists, and is a shoe-in for the Netherlands squad at next summer’s World Cup.

He could well be joined in North America by his twin Quinten who is enjoying a fine campaign with Feyenoord, with Robin van Persie’s side second in the Eredivisie, albeit 11 points behind PSV.

Like his brother, Quinten has been highly-regarded for some time and transfer speculation surrounding him has been growing lately, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

West Ham were linked with him last summer, while Arteta was recently urged to reunite the Timber twins at Arsenal.

Now, Sky Sports report that Brentford have made signing a defensive midfielder their top priority in January and Quinten is a player they ‘particularly like’.

The Bees are preparing for life without Vitaly Janelt who is expected to depart when his contract expires next sext summer, while their other No.6 options, including England veteran Jordan Henderson, are the wrong side of 30.

A long-term replacement is required and 24-year-old Quinten, who has seven goal contributions in 22 games this season, appears to fit the bill.

There are other names on Brentford’s shortlist, including Joey Veerman but recent reports indicate the PSV midfielder has already agreed to join Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

After spending a few years in their academy, Quinten rejoined Feyenoord in 2022 and won a league and cup double in 2023/24 under the guidance of current Liverpool manager Arne Slot.

With Dutch football on their winter break, Quinten won’t play again until mid-January but Jurrien could be in action on Tuesday night when Arsenal take on Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup quater-finals.
