Timothee Chalamet has revealed that he considers Susan Boyle to be one of his favourite ever Brits.
The 29-year-old actor is currently promoting his upcoming film, Marty Supreme, which focuses on an aspiring ping-pong champion, Marty Mauser, who will stop at nothing to be an all-time great.
While in London promoting his movie, he revealed who he believes to be the five all-time great Brits.
‘Lewis Hamilton, David and Victoria,’ he began to the BBC.
He then added ‘Fakemink,’ a London rapper who recently teamed up with EsDeeKid, (an anonymous Liverpool drill artist who many have linked to Chalamet, and may in fact be him).
He then added that his final selection would be: ‘Susan Boyle.’
‘She dreamt bigger than all of us,’ he explained, unironically.
‘Who wasn’t moved by that?’ he said, referencing the viral clip of the singer singing I Dreamed A Dream from Les Misérables on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009.
‘I remember that like it was yesterday,’ he said. ‘That was like the advent of YouTube, you know.’
The video did go viral in 2009, receiving over 10million views when it was first released.
Susan, 64, came in second place behind winners, dance troupe Diversity, but went on to sell 25 million records worldwide.
She even made UK music history in 2011 by becoming the first female artist to achieve three successive number one albums in less than two years.
In more recent years, the Scottish singer has taken a step back from the limelight and has not released an album since 2016’s A Wonderful World. But in May 2025, Susan announced on Instagram that she had returned to the recording studio for the first time in six years.
This isn’t the only time the Dune actor has been open about praising other celebrities he admires.
While collecting his best actor SAG Award earlier this year for playing Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, he listed several actors he admired and wanted to be like.
‘I know people don’t usually talk like that, but I wanna be one of the greats. I’m inspired by the greats. I’m inspired by the greats here tonight.’
Listing Daniel Day-Lewis, Marlon Brando and Viola Davis as his acting idols, Timothee shared that the award is ‘more fuel’ and ‘more ammo’ to continue toward his goal.
In the BBC interview, he also insisted that his new film was guaranteed to entertain.
‘This is an original film at a time where a lot of original films aren’t made.
‘And there’s no part of me that’s a salesman that’s saying this, but I’ve never been more confident in saying, “Hey, if you bring yourself to see this movie, you won’t be let down”. It’s really like a slingshot.’
Marty Supreme is released in cinemas on Boxing Day.
