Social Impact Leader award for Oman’s veteran blood donor

Muscat – The Arab-European Center of Human Rights and International Law has honoured Ahmed bin Hamad al Kharousi as Social Impact Leader 2025 in recognition of his outstanding humanitarian contributions and long-standing commitment to volunteer work, particularly in the field of blood donation.

The recognition is part of the organisation’s efforts to promote a culture of volunteerism and encourage wider community participation in humanitarian initiatives. Kharousi, a regular blood donor for many years, was commended for his selfless service and sustained support to patients and healthcare institutions through voluntary blood donation.

In its citation, the organisation praised his dedication to advancing human dignity, social wellbeing and community empowerment, noting that his efforts have strengthened social solidarity and inspired positive change.

Speaking to Muscat Daily, Kharousi, who has made 219 blood donations to date, was delighted at being honoured and stressed that volunteerism is a shared social responsibility. “This recognition is not for me alone, but for every volunteer who gives without waiting for appreciation. Volunteering, especially blood donation, is a simple act that can save lives and bring hope to families during difficult times,” he said.

He urged young people to play a more active role in serving society. “I encourage youth to make volunteering part of their lives. Your time, effort and compassion can make a real difference. Through volunteer work, we build stronger communities and reinforce the values of solidarity and humanity,” he added.

The Arab-European Center said the recognition reflects its commitment to honouring individuals whose humanitarian efforts contribute to building safer, more inclusive and compassionate societies.
