Researchers have found a way to considerably boost the lifespan of lithium-ion batteries for EVs and other uses. Adding a mere 0.5 mole percent of tantalum oxide to the cathode material slashes the rate of capacity decay per cycle in half, paving the way for more durable, high-energy batteries.
