Muscat – Rustaq Hospital has been granted the prestigious ‘Mother-and-Baby-Friendly Hospital’ accreditation by Ministry of Health, marking a significant national achievement in the healthcare sector. This designation means the facility is now the third hospital across the Sultanate to secure the ‘Baby-Friendly’ status and the second to receive the ‘Mother-Friendly’ endorsement.

The award ceremony, held on December 15, was presided over by Eng Masoud bin Saeed al Hashmi, the Governor of South Batinah. Speaking at the event, Dr. Mahmood bin Salim al Subhi, the hospital’s director, affirmed that the recognition is the result of consistent collective efforts to enhance the quality of maternal and paediatric care, ensuring a safe and supportive environment in line with approved standards. Dr. Salima Ali al Mamari, Director of the Ministry of Health’s Nutrition Department, highlighted the initiative’s vital role in promoting the culture of breastfeeding, describing it as the foundation for the health of future generations.
The programme concluded with the honouring of individuals and organisations that supported the hospital in meeting the rigorous standards.
