Emmerdale icon Kim Tate (Claire King) is known for her love of horses. She memorably rode to her wedding with Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) on a horse called Ice and has often been seen riding him.
This is the same horse who was complicit in the death of Craig Reed (Ben Addis), the man who raped Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick). There were lots of people who were keen to see Craig dead, but it was a blow from the horse’s hoof that eventually finished him off.
Sadly both the horse and Kim suffered a nasty accident last week while Kim was out investigating reports of illegal shooting taking place on her land.
In upcoming episodes, as Kim recovers from her injuries there’s worse news for poor Ice. It’s found that his injury is terminal and Joe (Ned Porteous) feels he has no option but to have him euthanised.
Kim is heartbroken by this news and blames Joe, lashing out at him furiously for taking the decision without talking to her.
Lydia feels incredibly guilty, knowing that it was Sam (James Hooton) who organised the illegal shoot to try to raise some cash for the Dingles. Lydia helped him by keeping Kim distracted, partly because she was angry with Kim at the time. What she didn’t know was that Kim was planning a surprise appearance by Lydia’s idol Jason Donovan especially for her.
Lydia’s guilt is compounded when Kim names her as a major beneficiary in her will. Kim’s fury at Joe and also at Dawn (Olivia Bromley) for trying to back him up, means that she doesn’t want anything to do with either of them.
Joe tries to get advice from Sam about how to handle the situation, while Dawn makes overtures to Kim to try to mend their relationship.
Your soap theories for the Christmas period revealed!
Unsurprisingly, a lot of theories are floating around for all three soaps in the lead up to Christmas Day.
For Emmerdale, hot topic of conversation is the storyline involving Celia and Ray. Plenty of fans are hoping the duo will get their comeuppance during the festive period, but will they get their wish?
Also, now Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle are back together, Robron lovers are crossing their fingers for some wholesome scenes of the couple enjoying Christmas morning together.
Amid the ongoing EastEnders storyline that's seen Zoe Slater grow convinced she has a stalker, audience members are hoping Christmas will see the concluding part of the plot, and that Zoe's stalker is finally exposed.
All Swarla fans want for Christmas this year is for Carla and Lisa to be back together. The two characters split up recently amid Becky Swain's ongoing meddling, and now the audience are desperately hoping they will reunite to spend the festive season as a couple.
With a Weatherfield resident set to be attacked soon, fans are also speculating as to who will be the victim. We know it'll be someone in the Rovers, which leaves characters including Eva, Ben, Ollie, Will, Megan and Daniel all within a chance of facing violence over Christmas.
Given the rumours circulating at the moment that Maggie is a killer, it's left plenty with the theory that she will end up being the culprit as well...
None of this does any good, as Kim is so entrenched in her anger and suspicion that she isn’t listening to reason. And, ironically, the only person she thinks she can trust – Lydia – is the one who is really guilty of betraying her.
This is obviously huge pressure for Lydia, who knows that if she tells Kim the truth it’ll be the end of their long friendship. But for such a basically honest person, lying to her friend is tearing her apart.
What will she do?
