Overview
-
The Philadelphia Eagles acquired former Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander and a 2027 seventh-round pick from the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick in a rare in-season Saturday trade.
-
Many fans see the move as a low-risk, high-reward gamble, with some hopeful Alexander can regain his old form, while others are skeptical due to his recent injuries and declining play.
-
Reddit users are split, with some optimistic about the potential upside and others convinced Alexander is past his prime, but most agree the trade cost is minimal for the Eagles.
Eagles take a low-risk chance on Alexander
The Eagles' acquisition of Jaire Alexander for a late-round pick is being widely viewed as a low-risk, high-reward gamble. Many see it as a classic move by GM Howie Roseman, taking a shot on a once-elite player who could still have something left in the tank. The consensus is that the cost is minimal, so even if Alexander doesn't pan out, it's not a significant loss for Philadelphia.

Love this move. If it works out he's a massive upgrade at CB2. If he doesn't? It's a sixth, who cares.
-
For a 6th that's good. Surely Jaire has something left in the tank Need a pass rusher though
-
Wasn’t even for a 6th, it was a 6th and 7th pick swap, so basically for nothing. Idk how good he is at this point, but as someone(not an Eagles fan) said to me, he’s only 28, and you don’t just lose all-pro skills that fast plus our dbs coach was his db coach in GB, so hopefully it’ll mesh. I guess if you throw enough darts at the wall, one of em’s bound to stick.
Concerns about injuries and decline
Skepticism is running high about Alexander's current ability, with many pointing to his recent injuries, lack of playing time, and declining performance. Some users note he was a healthy scratch and question whether he can contribute meaningfully. Still, the low cost of the trade makes it a risk some are willing to accept, even if expectations are tempered.
-
He was a healthy scratch last week. He's washed
-
The guy was a healthy scratch for one of the worst defenses in the league
-
He looks washed but for a late pick swap.. Sure I guess
Hope for a career revival in Philadelphia
There's a sense of cautious optimism that a change of scenery could help Alexander recapture some of his former Pro Bowl form. Some users point to his age and past success, suggesting that if he can stay healthy, he might surprise doubters. The Eagles' coaching connections and defensive scheme are also seen as potential factors that could help him bounce back.
-
I mean, the Eagles got him for a song. If he can get/stay healthy, this could be a steal. Big “if” though…
-
If he goes to Philly and becomes a contributor… idk. At some point it isn’t bad luck. lol
-
Imagine if he’s not washed with us
Whether Jaire Alexander can turn his career around in Philadelphia or not, the Eagles' gamble has sparked plenty of debate. Think this move will pay off or flop? Dive into the discussion and share your take on Reddit.
