Gavin Newsom warned this week that Donald Trump’s increasingly long government shutdown will impact those who rely on federal food support, likely delaying benefits as families are preparing to celebrate Thanksgiving in November.
On Wednesday, California’s governor said he would set aside $80m in state support and deploy the California national guard to assist food banks.
