A Macomb Township man is in custody after an early-morning shooting in a parking garage at a Troy hospital. The 25-year-old victim is recovering from being shot twice in the arm.
Corewell Health sent a statement to The Oakland Press at noon:
“The situation at Troy Hospital has been cleared, and we are resuming normal operations. Patients who had appointments that were canceled earlier today or have appointments later today may call the department where they were scheduled directly to be rescheduled or confirm their appointment. We are incredibly thankful for the quick actions of all our team members and law enforcement.”
An active shooter alert was reported at the Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital at 7:08 a.m. Thursday and police issued a warning for motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area and shelter in place. A mobile emergency alert sounds on cell phones for residents and motorists within a certain distance of the shooting.
The hospital is just two miles from the Brooklands Parks splash pad in Rochester Hills, where nine people were injured in a mass shooting last June.
At about 9:45 a.m., Troy police announced the suspect was in custody. A Macomb County SWAT team was activated to arrest the suspect in Macomb Township, near 21 Mile and Heydenreich roads. Dakota High School was on lockdown for a brief time.

“All clear at Corewell Troy,” Troy police posted on Facebook. “Suspect is in custody. Corewell Troy is in the process of returning back to normal operations.”
The suspect fired five shots from a handgun at the man, striking him twice in the arm, Troy police Lt. Ben Hancock told The Detroit News, calling the shooting as “a targeted incident between two employees of the hospital.”

It's unclear what types of jobs the two man have.
While police were clearing out the hospital, which is located on Dequindre Road near M-59 at the Oakland-Macomb border, the official said they were “confident” the suspect had left the complex.

The victim appeared to be in stable condition, Hancock said.
All roads surrounding the hospital complex were blocked.
Police officers from numerous cities responded to the call to assist Troy police, coming from Sterling Heights, Shelby Township, Auburn Hills, Southfield, and both the Macomb and Oakland counties sheriff’s offices and some federal agencies including the ATF. The search for the suspect included canines, drones and helicopters throughout the area, Hancock said.

Troy police used Facebook to confirm the shooting, adding that it appeared to be an isolated incident but the suspect was not in custody. They asked people to avoid the area.
A driver in the area said police officers were coming and going in all directions. Nearby schools and security were notified of the situation, some going into a soft lockdown.
