Holly Ramsay and Adam Peaty are said to have generated backlash by booking out Bath Abbey for their wedding day.
The model, 25, and Olympic swimmer, 30, are due to tie the knot on Saturday after Adam popped the question last September.
However, their big day is reportedly coming under scrutiny due to their venue choice, as the Abbey looks to be closed to the public for all of December 27.
Holly, the daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, and gold medallist Adam are believed to be having a ceremony lasting for just 90 minutes.
Still, they have secured an ‘all-day booking’, also preventing tourists from entering the historic building.
‘Please note the Abbey is closed today. There are no services or visiting times scheduled,’ reads a description on the website for this coming Saturday.
Holly and Adam were reportedly able to book the Abbey for their nuptials due to having a ‘special connection’ with it.
As per The Sun, this means they comply with the rule that anyone seeking to hire it must already have an established link.
Conditions for being able to marry at Bath Abbey say it is offered to ‘parishioners, members of the congregation, and those with a qualifying connection to the Abbey’.
The nature of Holly and Adam’s connection to the Abbey is unclear.
Furthermore, the cost of hiring the facility for a wedding can be approximately £2,500, but Holly and Adam have likely splashed out thousands of pounds extra to secure exclusivity.
‘It seems rather selfish to be hiring the Abbey for the whole day when your wedding service only lasts for an hour and a half or so,’ vented one local.
Sources at the Abbey say a security team is also set to patrol to stop onlookers from trying to take photographs of the bride and groom.
When approached for a comment, Adam’s spokesperson declined, telling The Sun: ‘It’s a private, family wedding.’
Who is going to Holly Ramsay and Adam Peaty’s wedding?
Influencer Holly and athlete Adam are said to have invited around 200 guests to their wedding.
The guest list includes big names, such as close family friends Sir David and Victoria Beckham, with Victoria having joined Holly’s hen party celebrations in November.
Eldest Beckham child Brooklyn will not be present, though, which has reportedly upset childhood friend Holly, as well as Gordon and his wife, Tana.
It’s believed Brooklyn declined an invitation on the presumption that his parents, with whom he is also feuding, having allegedly now blocked them on social media, will also attend.
Someone else who will be noticeably absent on Saturday, however, is Adam’s mother, Caroline, with reports of a family feud rife over recent months.
What’s more, Adam’s brother, James, was reportedly arrested following the star’s return from his stag do in Budapest, with a police statement confirming at the time that a 34-year-old man had been arrested ‘on suspicion of harassment’.
‘The man was released on conditional bail while our enquiries continue,’ they added.
While Adam’s parents continuously pleaded for harmony via interviews, his father saying the rift had got ‘out of hand’, Adam himself remained silent until issuing a public statement in mid-November.
‘Bethany, Holly and myself cannot go into detail given an ongoing police investigation into serious matters that arose long before recent events,’ he shared.
‘For those who know me personally, you know that I work so hard on trying to improve myself as a person who wants to contribute to making the world a better place. I am continuing to learn about myself and how I can be the man I want to be; a worthy partner, father, businessman, friend and athlete; even through these challenging times.
‘Bethany, Holly and I will get through this – we do not ask for sympathy. We just need people to be aware that there are always two sides to every story.’
‘To those of you who have reached out and shown kindness and understanding – thank you. It is deeply appreciated,’ Adam concluded.
Bethany is Adam’s sister, who is invited to his wedding and is set to be a bridesmaid for Holly.
Adam and Bethany are reportedly still ‘very close’ and she ‘got on with Holly straight away’.
The Strictly 2021 contestant, who shares a five-year-old son with ex-girlfriend Eiri Munro, began dating Holly after a two-year friendship. They revealed their romance publicly in June 2023.
They began appearing on each other’s Instagram feeds more frequently, often holidaying abroad together.
When Adam proposed last autumn, Holly shared the news with her 400,000 followers, writing in the caption of her dazzling ring debut: ‘I am marrying my best friend. I truly cannot put into words how I am feeling right now. I still remember how big my smile was the morning I got home from my first date with you.
‘Thank you for letting the little girl inside of me feel loved, seen and happier than ever. I love you & I cannot wait to be your wife 🤍’
‘I promise to always be there with you and George, I’m so greatful to be in his life and I cannot wait for more [sic],’ she added.
‘Everything is better with you. Everything has been better since you. Here’s to forever.’
Bath Abbey has been contacted for comment.
