The increase in gold prices in the global market has also impacted the domestic market. The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has once again raised gold prices within a 24-hour period. This time, the price of one bhori of 22-carat gold has been set at BDT 262,440, marking an increase of BDT 5,249 per bhori.
BAJUS announced this information in a press release issued on Monday (January 26) night. The new prices will become effective from Tuesday (January 27). This adjusted price is the highest in the country’s history.
The press release stated that the price of pure gold has increased in the local market. Consequently, the new gold prices have been determined after considering the overall market situation.
BAJUS further informed that a government-mandated 5 percent VAT and a BAJUS-determined minimum making charge of 6 percent must be added to the gold’s selling price. However, the making charge may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewelry.
