Amazon Prime has shared a first look at Sophie Turner as Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider adaptation.
The 29-year-old was named last year as the actor taking on the role, which is being adapted for TV by Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Production is now officially underway, with Turner pictured in Croft’s iconic strap-forward combat get-up, with some special red-tinted specs.
The series is based on the iconic video game franchise, which follows the adventures of the smokeshow archaeologist and world-famous adventurer as she takes on a series of code-cracking mysteries.
As well as Turner, the show recently announced a raft of heavy-hitting cast additions, including Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs and Celia Imrie.
Filling out the cast list thus far is Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed and August Wittgenstein.
Turner will be following in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander in the role, as well as Keeley Hawes, who voiced the video game character.
The Game of Thrones star is said to have beaten out stiff competition from Mackenzie Davis, Emma Mackey and Lucy Boynton for the part, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Turner said in the announcement last September that she is ‘thrilled beyond measure’ to have clinched the role.
‘She’s such an iconic character, who means so much to so many — and I am giving everything I’ve got,’ the impressively jacked actor said in a statement.
