Muscat – The Environment Authority (EA) has announced a formal extension to the suspension of environmental permits required for the export of various types of waste. This regulatory measure, which became effective on January 1, will remain in place until further notice as part of a national strategy to bolster the domestic industrial sector.
The suspension covers a wide range of materials, including used cooking oils, all types of used oils, used tyres, and used batteries. Additionally, the ban extends to various metal scraps such as iron, copper, and aluminium, alongside plastic waste. By restricting the outflow of these secondary raw materials, the Authority aims to enhance the efficiency of resource use and promote a more robust circular economy within the country.
