A car chase. A wedding. An epic soap-cross over. A devastating crash with a shocking death. Add to that a mysterious woman bound in the back of a van and you’ve got Corriedale.
The ground-breaking hourlong is set to see worlds literally collide when the villagers of Emmerdale meet the residents of Coronation Street on a stage set for destruction – a road in the dead of night.
The biggest stories of the year have led our favourite characters here, from Corrie’s Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) and his domestic abuse nightmare at the hands of his boyfriend Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), Debbie Webster’s (Sue Devaney) battle with dementia and Carla Connor (Alison King) versus Lisa Swain’s (Vicky Myers) deranged but devious ex-wife Becky (Amy Cudden)…
…to Emmerdale’s Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and her outrageous surrogate baby lie, whilst Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) and Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) face a gripping showdown with a terrifying enemy.
Amidst all that drama and chaos, in the aftermath of the crash, a mysterious van pulls up, concealing a terrified, bound woman. Who is this woman…and is she someone we know?
First of all, the major candidate has to be Carla Connor. Although a heartbroken Lisa thinks her ex has swanned off on holiday abroad to forget she ever existed, cobbles copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) isn’t so sure.
He’s suspicious that Carla’s not been replying to emails or failed to check into her hotel, and suspects that Becky has something to do with her sudden radio silence.
After getting a tip off about where Becky’s car was last seen Kit makes a shocking discovery, meanwhile, Becky is driving with Lisa and daughter Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) in the car, heading to the port in Hull for a new life abroad, without a care in the world. Has Becky done something to Carla? Is she the bound and gagged woman? And will Kit save her in time?

Or is it possible that Becky herself is tied up in the van? Was this all an elaborate plan to frame Carla and make herself look like a victim? As theories go, it might be up there with ‘the government is putting stuff in the water to control our dreams’.
But this is psycho Swain we’re talking about. A woman who faked her death, hospitalised the corrupt cop who helped her do it to protect herself and played cuckoo in the nest to split up our beloved Swarla. Is it so unbelievable to imagine the crazed ex cop had a backup plan to make Carla look like the unstable one?

Talking of unstable, Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) looks pretty close to unravelling at Debbie’s wedding.
The worst Webster’s got a whole laundry list of problems, mostly of his own making. The steamy affair with his brother Kevin’s (Michael Le Vell) wife Abi (Sally Carman-Duttine), then cheating on Abi with James Bailey (Jason Callender), trying to gaslight his dementia-stricken sister Debbie into giving him all her money – and let’s not forget the fact he was responsible for the hit-and-run that put Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) in a wheelchair.
Under duress, Carl and Kevin have agreed to put their many differences aside long enough to see their sister go down the aisle.
But a Corriedale spoiler revealing that Carl will be drunk behind the wheel of a car desperately speeding away suggests that Debbie’s big day isn’t plain sailing. Is one of Carl’s juicy secrets close to being revealed? Has Debbie figured out that Carl’s been trying to con her out of her money? If so, is Debbie the one tied up in the back of that van, as Carl’s last desperate act to get his oily mits on her business accounts?
Carl Webster might find he’s got a lot in common with Emmerdale’s Charity Dingle, because she’s got secrets too – and she won’t be very popular once they come out.
Namely, the fact that the ‘surrogate baby’ she agreed to have for Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) and Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) is not actually their baby – but a result of a one night stand with Dales bad boy Ross Barton (Michael Parr). The hopeful couple won’t be very happy to discover the truth, neither will Charity’s husband Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb).
Does Mac get mad and stash Charity in a van for a bit of home-made interrogation? Or does Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) – who’s driving Sarah and Jacob to the airport – discover Charity’s lie and go to drastic lengths to punish Charity?
The other possibility is that mystery woman in the van could be someone entirely new. One of Debbie’s wedding guests? Someone connected to one of our beloved Cobbles residents? Shona Platt (Julia Goulding), Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) or Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney)? Of course, there’s always the possibility they could be another long-lost Dingle.
Whoever the mystery lady in the back of the van is, they’re sure to bring a lot of drama with them…
