Sir David Beckham has seemingly shown support for singer Marc Anthony as the drama surrounding that wedding dance continues.
The American singer and actor, 57, performed at Brooklyn Beckham’s lavish wedding to Nicola Peltz in 2022.
It was previously reported that he made a remark that left actress Nicola, 31, in tears, prompting her family to rush to comfort her as she fled the room.
Eldest Beckham child, Brooklyn, then offered his version of events earlier this week, sharing a bombshell statement on his Instagram Story in a bid to ‘tell the truth’ and ‘stand up for [himself]’ following a year of rumours about a family feud.
‘In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me,’ he wrote, further claiming that his mum ‘danced very inappropriately on [him] in front of everybody’, making him feel ‘humiliated’.
Sharing further details of the alleged incident, DJ Fat Tony – who also performed at the occasion – appeared on This Morning on Friday, where he, too, placed responsibility on the musician, claiming he told Brooklyn to put his hands on his mother’s hips after calling Victoria to join her son on the floor.
Despite this, footie legend Sir David, 50, has continued interacting with him on social media.
A longtime friend of the family, Marc shared a post yesterday with his 13.9million followers, promoting his upcoming Las Vegas residency.
‘New vibes coming your way 😎’, his caption read, the accompanying photos showing him donning a suave suit and shades.
Sir David liked the post, which was uploaded just hours after Fat Tony’s revelations on daytime TV. Son Romeo Beckham also liked it.
After fashion designer Victoria was accused of ‘grinding’ on her son during his wedding and ‘nuzzling’ into him, conflicting remarks from various sources surfaced.
Page Six reported that Nicola was horrified by her first dance being taken away from her, calling Victoria’s behaviour ‘very inappropriate’ as she ‘took that moment from Nicola’.
‘Nicola ran out crying. The Beckhams’ side of the room was cheering, and the Peltz side was quiet,’ the insider added.
They continued: ‘Nicola’s friends were saying, “You have to go back down.” Her face was swollen. She finally came down and was sad the entire evening; it was so heartbreaking.’
Meanwhile, another source claimed Victoria was simply ‘a tad tipsy and having fun’.
‘Nicola didn’t want him to dance with his mum at all – so kicked off about it,’ they said.
As for Fat Tony’s recollection, he told ITV that there was an uncomfortable situation after Marc introduced ‘the most beautiful woman’ to the stage, welcoming Victoria instead of bride Nicola.
‘Victoria is by the stage; she goes onto the stage, of course. At that point, suddenly, literally, Brooklyn is devastated; he thought he was going to do his first dance with his wife,’ he recalled.
This sparked a huge reaction, but the budding chef remained with his mother, with Marc instructing him: ‘Put your hand on your mother’s hips.’
‘It was a Latin thing,’ Fat Tony – real name Anthony Marnoch – explained. ‘That whole situation was really awkward for everyone in the room.’
However, he has insisted that there was ‘no slut dropping’ and ‘no PVC cat suits’ or ‘Spice Girl action’.
What made the whole thing ‘inappropriate’, he says, was the timing of it all.
Following his interview in which he backed the young couple’s version of events, while Nicola herself has not spoken out on the latest developments or reposted her husband’s statement, she did like Fat Tony’s Insta post.
Today, he shared a snap of his dogs out on a walk, which she gave a heart to.
Despite Brooklyn having now declared he ‘doesn’t want to reconcile’ with his famous family, launching a scathing takedown of ‘Brand Beckham’ and accusing his parents of ‘controlling’ him for years, there might still be a smidge of hope for a reunion.
This weekend, a source told People that Sir David and Victoria ‘would take Brooklyn back in a minute’.
The pair – who also have sons Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 20, and daughter Harper, 14, together – reportedly want to fix their relationship with him, as they are ‘afraid’ of losing their child.
‘They are a close family, too. Just in a different way than Nicola’s family is.
‘They love Brooklyn and are horrified about everything.’
Reps for Marc Anthony have been contacted for comment.
