This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX.

Christmas Day came to a violent end for Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) in Coronation Street this year when he was brutally attacked in the ginnel.

Fortunately, he survived the assault and was taken to hospital after being found unconscious by Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman).

However, he was unable to identify his attacker, explaining that he’d been struck from behind. All he could tell his family was that he’d had his watch and wallet stolen.

While Daniel’s loved ones were clueless as to who could have attacked him, it quickly became clear that Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) had some idea.

Having picked up on the tension between Daniel and grandson Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) at the Christmas dinner table the previous day, Maggie questioned Will on his whereabouts the previous evening.

In no time at all, Will folded under his gran’s questioning, and admitted to the attack – though he kept the real reason behind his actions to himself.

Viewers will know that Will has been groomed by sports coach Megan (Beth Nixon), who also moved to Weatherfield in recent weeks to continue training Will.

Since arriving on the cobbles, Megan has struck up a relationship with Daniel, leaving Will seething with jealousy.

Though Megan has been arguing that she is only acting to keep their relationship under wraps, Will is extremely unhappy with the situation.

In recent scenes, Daniel caught on to Will’s feelings for Megan and has confronted him more than once about his ‘teenage crush’.

As tensions grew over Christmas dinner yesterday thanks to Maggie’s actions, Will couldn’t help throwing snipes at Daniel, who gave his best right back.

When Will explained his reason behind attacking Daniel, he made out to Maggie that it was because he hadn’t liked the way Daniel had spoken to her.

Satisfied that Will had told her everything, Maggie kept the information to herself, even as Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) revealed that a homeless man had been arrested after Daniel’s missing belongings were found in his possession.

However, in an eery flashback scene, viewers learnt that Will wasn’t the only person involved in Daniel’s attack.

We won’t spoil exactly who his accomplice was, so you’ll have to tune in to the episode to find out!

Can Will and his partner-in-crime continue to get away with the attack on Daniel, or is justice set to catch up with them?
