Kenya has dispelled doubts about its ability to co-host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2027) alongside Uganda and Tanzania.

In response to criticism over the poor state of road infrastructure and delays in stadium construction, Salim Mvurya, Kenya’s Secretary of State for Youth, Creative Economy, and Sports, has invited an inspection commission from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to Kenya to assess the progress made by the organizing committee.

“We have decided to invite CAF early so they can review the progress with us and provide their suggestions while the contractor is still on site, allowing us to integrate their input into the construction process,” said the Kenyan Secretary of State in a statement to the website kenyans.

“We have also reviewed the progress of seven other key projects, all in advanced stages of construction, which are crucial for the success of AFCON 2027. A whole-of-government approach has been firmly implemented to guarantee full preparedness as we head into preparatory engagements with CAF in the near future,” he added.

As a reminder, the 36th edition of AFCON will take place from June 19, 2027 to July 18, 2027.
