Queensland Premier David Crisafulli has defended the minister in charge of community recovery for going on holiday while the state deals with massive floods.
Amanda Camm, whose responsibilities include community recovery, is currently in Africa at the same time large parts of Queensland – including her Whitsunday electorate – battle storms, rain and floods.
Camm is on holiday with her partner, Tim Mander, the state's sport minister.

While away, she has posted several updates about the weather emergencies on her social media pages.
Asked about her absence this morning, Criasfulli defended Camm, saying his cabinet was a team and that, as premier, it was his job to lead the government's response to the floods.
"We've worked really well together," he told Today.
"We've had a lot of events in the last couple of weeks and I've been on the ground for all of them, and I lead that team.

Crisafulli also praised Sam O'Connor, who has been acting for Camm during her break.
"That's what those acting arrangements are for, but ultimately I'm the head of the response," the premier said.
"I was first on the ground in north-west Queensland, and had the opportunity to be in north Queensland where the winds initially hit as the ex-tropical cyclone crossed."

He praised the work of first responders and emergency services, who have worked to save people, homes and livestock during a difficult time for Queensland.
"I'm very proud of the response, but it's only because of the people who put on those uniforms and go and do it, and the response has been handled very well because of that," he said.
