Liam Rosenior has his first Premier League win as Chelsea boss after a home victory over Brentford at Stamford Bridge.

The new Blues boss presided over last weekend’s comfortable FA Cup third round victory over Charlton before defeat to Arsenal in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

In a stern test against a side who started the day three places ahead of them in the table, Chelsea sealed a hugely important win after protests against the club’s ownership ahead of kick-off.

Joao Pedro, restored up front, gave the hosts the lead with a well-taken finish, firing into the roof of the net past Caoimhin Kelleher after 26 minutes.

Brentford, flying under Keith Andrews, controlled large portions of the game despite falling behind, also registering more shots on target than the home side.

But Chelsea got the second goal of the game to wrap up all three points with Liam Delap brought down in the box after an errant pass from Nathan Collins.

Cole Palmer stepped up to send Kelleher the wrong way with his fifth goal of the campaign.
