Bayern not involved in bidding for Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)

Despite some oddball rumors, Bayern Munich is not involved in a potential transfer for Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior:

Is Vinicius Jr an unlikely transfer?
❌ It is NOT TRUE: Bayern want to sign Vinicius Jr. I love this rumour, but it’s absolutely not true! Real Madrid have reportedly made the Brazilian an offer, and he hasn’t signed it. But the simple truth is that if Real can’t pay his demands, then neither can Bayern! I heard that the agents are making a market for him, which is why we’ve since seen reports saying Liverpool and City are also interested. I’m not so sure of this. I know they can pay him, and they always need players like Vinicius in this position, but in the end, we have to see if everything is true.

He’s not an easy player to work with – perhaps a little complicated, as Xabi Alonso has now discovered! He always has the option of going to Saudi Arabia, of course, that wouldn’t be a problem. But to Bayern Munich? No.

There have been intermittent rumors linking Bayern Munich to a pursuit of the Real Madrid star, who has great talent, but a questionable attitude and rumors of an even more debatable work ethic. As far as a fit goes, financially there is virtually no way it would work, but Vincent Kompany could — likely — shake the Brazilian from some of those critiques.

City to make play for Alexander-Arnold (ESPN)

While Bayern Munich might not be looking at Real Madrid right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, Manchester City might be:

Manchester City are keeping tabs on Trent Alexander-Arnold amid uncertainty about the right back’s future with Real Madrid, according to TEAMtalk. While there is frustration around how his debut season with Madrid has gone so far, starting just five LaLiga matches this season amid various injury problems, the 27-year-old is determined to fight for his place at the Bernabéu. City haven’t made a formal offer yet but are carefully assessing the situation, although a move for the England international would be expensive as he only signed a six-year contract in the summer following his free transfer from Liverpool.

Neuer’s deft touch (ESPN’s Archie Rhind-Tutt)

While he did not play against FC Augsburg on Saturday, Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer still put on a show during warm-ups:

Palhinha talks Spurs move (To the Lane and Back)

Bayern Munich loanee João Palhinha explained how his loan to Tottenham Hotspur came to be, why he was initially apprehensive, and why he ultimately endorsed the move.

“I always followed Tottenham as well. The call from the coach helped a lot for me to join the club, to show me his interest. When it’s a coach from a top club, he’s calling for you and trying to push you as much as he did, I think you should do it. It was an easy choice for me at that moment,” said Palhinha. “The truth is I didn’t want to leave Bayern because I was just one season there, and I wanted to prove my value and what I’m capable of. But at the same time, I think I needed to play. I needed to shine again.”

Barca narrowing down striker search to Vlahović, Álvarez (ESPN FC)

FC Barcelona might have identified Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez and Juventus striker Dušan Vlahović as the top candidates to replace Robert Lewandowski as the team’s No. 1 center-forward:

Barcelona are intensifying their search for a striker to replace Robert Lewandowski this summer, with Julián Álvarez and Dusan Vlahovic among the targets, various sources have told ESPN.

Fulham made bid for Pepi (ESPN)

Fulham FC made a nice bid to PSV Eindhoven for striker Ricardo Pepi:

Fulham have made a bid of €32 million for USMNT forward Ricardo Pepi, sources have told ESPN. Pepi is out of action due to a broken forearm in early January, an injury that is set to keep to him out for two months. Sources have told ESPN that the Dutch side are looking for a fee closer to €35 million for the striker.
