This 1963 Volkswagen Type 2 is a 23-window, right-hand-drive Deluxe model that was initially delivered to Sweden and then imported to the US and purchased by the seller in 2025. Finished in gray and white over a mostly disassembled interior, the bus is powered by a replacement 2.0-liter flat-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes 14″ steel wheels with polished hubcaps along with painted bumpers, front Safari windows, and a retractable cloth sunroof. This Type 2 is offered with spare parts, a Volkswagen Classic Parts Certificate, and a North Carolina title in the seller’s name.

Factory-finished in Mouse Grey and Pearl White, the bus was repainted under prior ownership and reportedly fitted with replacement window seals. The right-front door and front safari windows are noted as replacements, and exterior details include painted bumpers with bright-accented rub strips as well as a retractable cloth sunroof, sliding front-side windows, and left-side cargo doors. There are no side mirrors, one headlight does not work, and the seller states that the door handles and locks need to be replaced.

Body-color 14″ steel wheels with polished VW-logo hubcaps are wrapped in Marix tires. Braking is provided by a drum at each corner, and the system is said to have been overhauled. The seller tells us that the van rattles and that the lowered suspension’s ride quality has been lessened.

The driver’s portion of the front-bench seating is in place and is upholstered in white vinyl with gray trim. Per the seller, the belly pans have been replaced, the forward floorboards have been repaired, and the bulkhead has been reworked to accommodate a rear-facing second-row bench. There is a hole in the floor, near the pedals, and all of the non-driver seating remains uninstalled after disassembly to have the frames powder-coated in black. The cabin heater has been removed and is not included in the sale.

The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-km/h speedometer. The five-digit odometer shows 75k kilometers (~47k miles), approximately 20 of which were added under current ownership.

The replacement air-cooled flat-four is said to displace two liters. It features 12-volt electrics along with dual carburetors and is said to have been recently serviced.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.

The Volkswagen Classic Parts Certificate lists factory colors and equipment along with a manufacturing date of April 5, 1963.

The bus is titled using the North Carolina-assigned VIN number shown above. The vehicle’s VIN stamp is viewable in the gallery.
