2 Classic Pokémon Video Games Return Next Week on Nintendo Switch 1 & 2

Two classic Pokémon games are set to return to the Nintendo Switch family this week.

What Pokémon games are returning to the Nintendo Switch next week?

Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen, the 2004 remakes of 1996’s Pokémon Red and Blue, are both coming to the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

The classic remakes will arrive on the Nintendo eShop after the conclusion of the upcoming Pokémon Presents, a special presentation set to be held on February 27, 2026, at 6 a.m. PST. Originally released in 2004 for the Game Boy Advance, the two games allowed players to replay the iconic Pokémon Red and Blue with a slightly enhanced look and new features, including a brand new area you can access after beating the Elite Four and Champion.

It’s unclear if the Nintendo Switch releases of the game will feature any additional changes, although a trailer for the game doesn’t seem to suggest it. No pricing information on either game, or whether or not they would be made available in a bundle, has been made available by Nintendo as of yet either.

The news comes ahead of Nintendo’s planned festivities for this year’s Pokémon Day. The day, which commemorates when the original games were released in Japan, are extra special this year, as the Pokémon brand is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Since it’s a big anniversary, fans have been hoping for some even bigger announcements, although we’ll have to wait and see if any are made.
