Human rights and social justice advocate, Ene Obi, has expressed displeasure that the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, thinks civil society organizations, CSOs, do not represent the wishes of Nigerians.

Obi expressed her disappointment when she appeared on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’ on Friday.

She was speaking about protests by CSOs demandihg real-time electronic transmission of election results.

Recall that several CSOs, individuals and prominent opposition politicians including former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi and ex-Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, partook in the protest.

The National Assembly eventually approved electronic transmission of election results, but with manual collation retained as a backup.

DAILY POST reports that President Bola Tinubu signed the Electoral Act, 2022 (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill 2026 into law barely 24 hours after it was passed by the National Assembly.

Obi said, “It’s unfortunate Festus Keyamo, SAN, thinks civil society organisations don’t represent Nigerians’ wishes.

“He used to be on this side. Even President Tinubu was a known protester. With the Electoral Act passed, we’ll focus on the judiciary.

“Let’s look at our conscience while speaking because you are in power now. Power is very temporary.”
