  • Nissan built only 44 GT-R V-Spec based 400R models.

While low-mileage R34-generation Nissan Skyline GT-Rs often draw the most attention from collectors, the Nismo 400R stands apart as a true outlier. The R33-generation model, often not held in the same regard as the R32 and R34, produced one of the most remarkable Skylines ever built, conceived as a road-going tribute to the GT-R LM that competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

In creating the 400R, Nismo’s engineers began with the already formidable GT-R V-Spec and pushed it significantly further. They fitted a new exhaust, upgraded intercooler, twin-plate clutch, custom Rays three-piece wheels, and reworked the suspension with Nismo springs and Bilstein dampers.

Initially, Nissan planned to build 100 examples of the 400R, but production reportedly concluded after just 44 units. Of those, only 40 have been officially verified, making it one of the rarest and most sought-after versions of the Skyline.

Next month, one of these cars will cross the block at Broad Arrow Auctions with an estimated sale price between $900,000 and $1.1 million. This particular example is number 8 of the 44 built.

It spent most of its life in Japan before being acquired by the current owner in 2022 and exported to Canada the following year. In 2024, it was imported into the United States.

The car shows 16,316 km (10,136 miles) and is currently part of a collection in North Carolina. It appears to have been carefully maintained, yet it has not lived as a static display piece. The QM1 White paint presents in excellent condition and appears free of visible damage.

Similarly, the interior looks to be just as good as new and even includes hidden gauges in the glovebox. There’s also a bright yellow kill switch in the dash, showing just how serious this thing is.

Got nearly a million dollars burning a hole in your Nomex-lined pocket? This might be your moment. A car like this does not show up every day, so check out the listing over here and see whether your garage is ready for some proper Le Mans-flavored nostalgia.
