Insect catching is one of the hobbies you can unlock in Heartopia that allows you to well, catch insects. There are a bunch of different types of bugs to find around the island, and as you level up the hobby, you'll unlock even more to find. Some insects require specific weather or time conditions, so you may have a hard time looking for them if you don't have an idea of when or where to look already.
