Ogun Police probe TikToker’s alleged sexual assault, vow justice

The Ogun State Police Command has commenced investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a Nigerian TikToker with the username Mirabel (@mirab351) following widespread outrage and reactions on social media.

The incident, which reportedly surfaced online through a viral video and emotional posts by the victim, sparked heated conversations across various platforms.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi disclosed to vanguard via sms that upon receiving information about the incident, the Commissioner of Police directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ibafo Division, to immediately establish contact with the victim.

According to him, the victim reported at the Ibafo Police Station, where preliminary facts surrounding the incident were obtained. Initial findings, however, revealed that the alleged assault occurred within the Ogijo jurisdiction.

He explained that the victim was promptly escorted to a medical facility for assessment and urgent medical attention.

“Following preliminary treatment, she was subsequently conveyed to the Ogijo Police Station, being the jurisdiction where the incident occurred, for proper documentation and continuation of investigative procedures,” he said.

The Police spokesperson further noted that due to the victim’s fragile condition, she has been referred for extensive medical care to aid her recovery and support the ongoing investigation.

The Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the victim, while assuring members of the public that diligent efforts are being made to bring those responsible to justice.
