No fewer than 695 police officers in Kano State have been formally decorated following their promotion to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
The officers, who were elevated from the rank of Inspector, were honoured at separate decoration ceremonies held across the command’s formations and departments.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, delegated the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Lawal Isah Mani, to represent him at the event.
In his remarks, DCP Mani commended the officers for earning the promotion and reminded them that the new rank demands greater commitment and accountability.
He said the elevation should be seen not only as recognition of their past efforts but also as a responsibility to demonstrate stronger leadership, professionalism and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
The newly promoted ASPs were encouraged to remain disciplined, lead by example and continue serving the people of Kano State with honesty and dedication.
The ceremony was also attended by other senior officers, including the DCP Administration and the DCP in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
