PFN urges Otti to remain active in politics beyond 2031

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Abia State chapter, has urged Governor Alex Otti not to withdraw from politics after completing his second term in 2031, expressing confidence that his performance in office would earn him public support in the 2027 governorship election.

The position was conveyed by the immediate past PFN State Chairman, Chikezie Elekwa, who led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the governor. He appealed to Otti to allow the people to determine his political future rather than making a personal decision to step away from public service.

Elekwa commended the governor’s efforts in the state and pledged the church’s continued support. He also conveyed the goodwill of the current PFN State Chairman, Newlife Ugochukwu, who was unable to attend but, according to him, remains supportive of the administration.

Responding, Governor Otti thanked PFN for its prayers and support, acknowledging the role of the Christian body in his political journey. He reiterated that his administration is focused on restoring the dignity of residents and improving governance through collective efforts.

While appreciating the call to remain active in politics beyond his tenure, the governor noted that such decisions would be guided by personal conviction and future circumstances.

Those present at the meeting included the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Caleb Ajagba; Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Eno Jerry Eze; Senior Special Assistant on Religious Matters, Kenneth Wiper; and the Director-General, Strategic Communication Bureau, Onyebuchi Ememanka, among others.
