The Boys Season 5 To Be Full of Major Deaths: ‘Nobody Is Safe’

Karl Urban has teased a brutal final chapter for The Boys Season 5, indicating that the Prime Video superhero drama will immediately raise the stakes for its core characters. As the series approaches its end, Urban signaled that “nobody is safe,” pointing to major deaths and shocking consequences from the very beginning of the final season.

Karl Urban told Variety that significant character deaths will occur in the final season of The Boys. Discussing season five, Urban said “nobody is safe” and described the episodes as building toward “the whole thing coming to a big crescendo.” He added that while reading the scripts, “your mouth just drops to the floor and say, they’re doing that? Oh, man.”

Urban stated that from the opening episode, “Like, nobody is safe. Like, fatalities right from the get go.” He also said the final run would escalate immediately, noting, “Last season, it’s all on.” His comments align with earlier remarks in which he said “there’s going to be some big hits early on in the very first episode.”

At San Francisco’s Fan Expo, Urban said, “I think we throw you in the deep end, but in a good way, because the stakes are as high as they can possibly be.” He added that viewers’ “attachments to characters” will be tested and that “anybody’s fair game.” According to Urban, those early developments will make audiences realize “this shit is for real” (via Screen Rant).

The season stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, Cameron Crovetti, Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jensen Ackles and Daveed Diggs. Production began in November 2024 and wrapped in July 2025.

The final season will premiere on April 8, 2026, with its first two episodes. The remaining episodes will then roll out weekly through May 20.
