The Oyo State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped victim and arrested a suspect following coordinated attacks by armed criminals in Otefon Village via Oyo and Amalu Village via Ahorọ Dada area of the state.

The operation, carried out through intelligence-led surveillance and tactical deployments, also led to the recovery of some stolen property.

According to a statement issued by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the breakthrough followed a report received at the Atiba Divisional Police Headquarters that approximately eight armed hoodlums stormed Otefon Village in the early hours of the day.

He said, during the attack, the assailants abducted Taiwo John, also known as “Ogo Oluwa” aged 40, adding that, the suspects also carted away an undisclosed sum of money belonging to the victim’s wives, along with his Android mobile phone.

While police operatives were intensifying efforts in response to the Otefon incident, a related report was received at the Ikoyi-Ile Division indicating that the same criminal syndicate had struck again at Amalu Village via Ahorọ Dada.

In a similar pattern, armed men invaded a residential compound and abducted Usman Amadu, confirming coordinated attacks within the same operational corridor.

In response, the command immediately activated its anti-kidnapping operational framework, deploying tactical teams to strategic locations across the affected axis.

He said through intelligence-led surveillance, coordinated bush-combing operations and sustained operational pressure, security personnel successfully rescued one of the kidnapped victims unhurt and arrested one Ibrahim Sani (male) in connection with the offences.

Ayanlade stated that the suspect has since confessed to his involvement in the crimes and remains in police custody, assisting ongoing investigations aimed at dismantling the entire criminal network.

He said, efforts are continuing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang and to recover additional exhibits linked to the incidents.

“The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, reassured residents that the Command remains resolute and proactive in confronting criminal elements threatening public safety.”

He further urged members of the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information, noting that community partnership remains a critical pillar in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes.

“For Emergencies, Contact: Oyo State Call Response Centre (Toll-Free): 615 Oyo State Police Command Control Room: 08081768614, 07055495413,” he stated.
