WATCH: Zim musician Malloti admits stealing R5 million as a teen

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is pursuing Zimbabwean musician and social media personality Malloti, wanted for an armed robbery in the Western Cape.

A video circulating shows her admitting that she and others stole nearly 5 million rands when she was 13.

In the video, Malloti explains that she was not arrested at the time because of her age.

She also reveals that she later served as a state witness in a separate case, a role that complicated immediate legal action against her.

Warrant still active

Western Cape SAPS spokesperson Captain F.C. Van Wyk confirmed that the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court issued a warrant of arrest for an accused identified as Namatai Bhobho.

Authorities removed the case from the court roll pending her arrest.

Documents linked to the investigation show that the matter relates to Rondebosch case number CAS 78/11/2017, indicating that the alleged offence dates back to 2017.

Police have not disclosed further details about the circumstances surrounding the alleged robbery.

Van Wyk said the authorities have transferred the docket to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) after receiving information that Malloti is now living in Zimbabwe.

The DPP’s office will arrange to trace her and extradite her back to South Africa.
